It is easy to understand why the Mohave Co. BOS gave County Manager Ron Walker an extension to his employment contract! This man has given them Carte Blanche powers over Mohave Co. without any discussion on anything by the residents.
Basically, what use to be Major Amendments are now considered Minor Amendments, and everything else can be passed in the consent agenda! Ron Walkers new Public Participation Plan has reduced the public voice to letter writing. Ron Walker changed the true meaning of Citizens Committee in the current General Plan to mean Tactical Advisory Committee, of which he handpicked the members, to get his desired results. Everyone on the TAC was in the position to gain financially from the results.
Two of them are on the P&Z which means they get to make the rules and then vote on them. By hook or crook, Ron Walker made the rewrite of the General Plan to be a “For Profit General Plan” exclusively for the Elite, Power Brokers, and the Good Ole Boys of Mohave Co., not for the good of Mohave Co residents as a whole or sustainable growth! Mr. Walker’s job is to manage the county, not create a new county government or change the culture of it! With four under managers, plus Mr. Walker, this job position is costing Mohave Co. close to a half a million dollars a year in payroll. Why? If he can’t do his job, fire him. No, not this BOS! Ron Walker has given them ultimate power and they are liking it! Some of Mr. Walker’s accomplishments are as follows: State reimbursements for social programs and it goes to county security! Gun control, pitchfork control, peaceful assembly control, residents voice control and of course dress code control. Have you noticed how much the word “control” comes up when talking about Ron Walker?
The definition of “Tyranny” is: unjust use of power, government by an absolute ruler, to oppress. Does this not describe Ron Walker in combination with Mohave Co. Government?
With the total removal of public comments and opinion by the residents of Mohave Co, all we can do is hang on and hope for the best. Hopefully they will not destroy our property values and our way of life because they have the power to do so!
The only good news to come out of all of this is, at least we have a date when Ron Walker will retire and there are the 2012 elections, at which time all of the BOS will be removed! By that time, there should be 5 Supervisors, so even if one of them wins re-election, people that care about the future of Mohave Co. and its residents can prevail!
I would like everyone to remember a quote from Thomas Jefferson, “ABSOLUTE POWER BREEDS CORRUPTION ABSOLUTELY.”
